Green Tea-An Effective Hangover Cure

Green Tea-An Effective Hangover Cure

So I have found the most effective remedy to cure the hangover. Want to know what I found? Green Tea- A natural healthy beverage.

Yes, I’ve done it – I went out last night. I mean out without pushing a pram, out after sunset and surrounded by adults who have actual conversations – forgot those existed.

It seems like the English girls’ favorite beverage is prosecco; now I don’t like it, but I was out without a pram and all that so I drank.

This morning I woke up with the most horrible hangover (bear in mind I was in bed by midnight so I didn’t abuse the going out part).

As we all do, Google-ing most effective hangover cures, I was surprised to know that green tea seems to be one of the best natural solutions.

How can tea solve hangovers one might ask himself but it’s all thanks to these plant chemicals called catechins.

This catechin is a natural antioxidant and it protects the liver from the damaging effects of alcohol, as well as reduce the risk of liver problems in general.

Hold your horses, this does not mean that you can fuel up on martinis and caipirinhas, chug a pint of green tea and everything will be fine.

So catechins are natural oxidants and green tea is full of ’em. But why are they important?

Well, when we eat, our bodies turn food into energy. During this process, byproducts are created, that is called free radicals.

These free radicals can damage our cells and could be a major factor in the aging process so our body needs antioxidants to fight these.

Scientists from the American Society for Nutritional Sciences found that the majority of the studies conducted have shown that drinking green tea is one of the best sources of antioxidants.

Drinking a cup of green tea, I stop the war.

Paul Reps

Paul Reps, one of the American Haiku poets, traveled to Japan en route to meet a Zen master in Korea. This was in the early ’50s, and his visa was denied, because of the conflict that had just broken out.

Paul sat down, poured himself a cup of tea and wrote a picture poem.

The clerk read it, teared up, bowed with respect and stamped his passport – the poem read the above quote.

Nice, huh?

Except for ending wars, green tea can end heart diseases.

Weight loss is associated with green tea also. This is thanks to, again, antioxidants and their fat-burning properties.

I like my green tea cold, but it’s summer and I don’t want to upset my stomach even more so I’m gonna drink a hot cup of green instead.

Careful when brewing green tea, though. The rule is to let it infuse for 1 to 3 minutes, but you need to adjust that based on what leaves you use.

Small leaves infuse rapidly so my advice is steep for 1 minute them try it every 30 seconds until it’s perfect to drink!

Now the only thing that’s left to do is push the pram to the market and find myself some green tea because sadly my head is still pounding and no one will listen and turn the sun off!

Love, Ale.
